The Alpha Jet is an amazing and unique plane! Jay Rothwell initially called it the Bi Jet in reference to his 2 wing design, but when its High Alpha capabilities were discovered he rightly changed the name to Alpha Jet. These high angles are achieved with no canards or gyros. On the maiden flight my jaw dropped open when I attempted High Alpha... And it almost hovered in High Alpha! No other plane I have flown takes all that I can throw at it- including extreme inverted high alpha- and is still docile enough for the beginner. The build takes only hours- just a few parts and just over 1 sheet of depron- and does not require carbon fiber reinforcement due to its built in strength. Although I use a Rudder, extreme high alpha maneuverability is possible without one. The elevon only set up along with a small motor requirement (i use the Grayson MJV3 on a 6x4 prop) makes it extremely inexpensive to build as well. All around this is one of the most potent 17 oz planes out there. IMHO.

I too have built this Jet and at first I wasn't very into the High Alpha flying style....I have to say, Jay designed a Jet that has opened my eyes to a new style of flying and I am now hooked. this plane was very easy to build. I drive an 18 wheeler truck and I built it inside my truck on my down time. It has me hooked for sure. I have a 400zoom from headsuprc.com with a 6x4 prop and a 40amp ESC. I fly it with a 1300mah 3s 40c battery and it handles very well....Thank you Jay for the great plane....
